‘Before I built a wall I’d ask to know
What I was walling in or out.’
Robert Frost, ‘Mending Wall’.
The Age Of Aquarius is an epoch heralded by astrologers and sun followers as the time of a great shift in humanities progress towards more egalitarian social structures, technological innovations (particularly of the internet and digital) and a greater awareness of each other’s destiny as a collective.
Ethereal Aquarius is a fixed astrological sign (January 21st to February 18th who in the Tarot’s Major Arcana represents the Star: the Waterbearer, optimist, future) and paradoxically represents two elements - air and water.
It’s the art of both independent and far-sighted intellectual knowledge and attunement to the wellbeing of others. It’s the ability to be deeply in and of this world - through humanitarian conscience and the rise of the people - and for practical scientific reasons detached and open to the mysteries of the galaxy.
AND to understand the important soul lesson that the greatest gift we can give to humanity and the creator is to embody our true authentic selves - the essence of any spiritual pilgrimage.
I believe this may require a certain skill set!
It’s often not easy to discover who we really are. Human emotions and beliefs can be extraordinarily contagious and we may even by hyper-vigilant to the needs of others at the abandonment of our true soul due to childhood trauma and/or social conditioning.
The dominant Newtonian paradigm of materialist science since the age of enlightenment also posited a somewhat alienating and mis-representative predicament that masked the relational interconnectedness of physics.
It viewed the basic atom as an isolated billiard ball when in fact as the founders of modern Quantum Physics Niels Bohr and his protege Werner Heisenberg discovered and termed the ‘Uncertainty Principle’, the smallest piece of the universe could not be identified as a separate reality but only the space between things.
And this mysterious space, like the epigenetic influence of external environmental factors on human DNA, can actively shape each moment through observation.
Consciousness and physical reality are like two dancers in an alchemical duet, a constantly transforming ‘we’. There is no ‘neutral’ independent place. Electrons form and flow even at the lowest temperatures on earth - the Zero-Point Field.
What we choose to observe and how we view the world directly impacts it.
In Lynne MacTaggart’s well researched and fascinating book ‘The Bond: Connecting Through The Space Between Us’ it’s clear the health policy repercussions of not factoring in the power of this inherent relationship based on quantum equality are huge.
The cost of what she movingly terms ‘unrequited humanity’ leads to many of the social ills and crises today for our 'separateness’ is an illusion.
By maintaining cultural norms of alienation and hyper-competitiveness we are in effect blinding ourselves to the essential truth of who we are as social creatures.
And yet from the first printing presses designed during the middle ages for propagating witch hunt hysteria and the recent decades of emotional manipulation via mass media it’s clear some very unhealthy folks do understand this power!
To reclaim this awareness of our fundamental interconnectedness and the importance of emotional intelligence to serve love and not fear has been a powerful thread in the work of one of my heroes Dr Joe Dispenza.
And as neuroscientist Graham Goddard discovered ‘how we are taught to see governs what we see’. Brain plasticity and neural pathways evolve within the nervous system from an early age and become sensitive and receptive to certain connections.
This wiring towards core social trust can be built and restored and is one of the reasons why I am so passionate about integrating energy healing with body work.
In the Age of Aquarius what we choose to observe and focus on (and crucially experientally ground into our physical felt experience) is a superpower we can claim.
To be both beautifully and holistically aware of the world - the Bond and its mysterious space between us and all things - and to understand our co-creative power in shaping it (literally on the quantum level) through conscious focus is a healthy and balanced Aquarian aspiration for the year ahead and beyond.
